Committee Members Needed
Torrens Valley Community Kindergym is a not-for-profit business that is run entirely by volunteer committee. Since our start back in 2003, parents and family members of our kindergymers have been helping to keep this wonderful club running. Now it is your turn.
The majority of our current committee members need to resign from the club by the end of this year. Rine no longer has kids at Kindergym, Bec is moving away and Madeleine will have no children at the club next year. We desperately need these positions filled otherwise we will be forced to close the club.
There are, on average five (5) TVCK meetings per year, one for each term and the AGM. The busiest time for the committee is when fundraising. Each position requires a different type of work and different number of hours, they would each need approximately 1 hour per week during terms and then slightly more time during big fundraisers, e.g. Gumeracha Medieval Fair and Birdwood Farm Day.
Here is a quick breakdown of each position that we are looking for.
President – currently held by Bec
The holder of this position overseas the running of the club and communication with Gym SA. Chairperson at committee meetings and the AGM. The go to person for queries from other members of the committee. Manages the TVCK Google Drive, all documentation regarding the club is saved here.
Vice president – currently held by Madeleine
The holder of this position is there to assist and help the President of the club. If the President is unavailable for any reason the VP looks after all issues.
Treasurer – currently held by Rine
The holder of this position looks after accounts payable, receivable and payroll. In 2019 we finally switched to online banking and we also started using a new online accounting software Reckon. This position requires a weekly check of the bank, 1 -2 hours per week/fortnight during each term.
Communications officer – currently held by Madeleine
The holder of this position looks after the Kindergym Facebook, website and Newsletter. The Facebook page is updated each week with photos from classes and then for any other events or information that members need. The website is only updated for big events, or if any current details change. Newsletters are done once or twice per term, or as needed. 1 – 2 hours per week during each term.
FUNDRAISING
One of the biggest jobs for the committee is fundraising, this is an extremely important part of our job. To keep the cost of membership and session cards low, we fundraise over half of our running costs.
Our figures in 2018 showed the following our average running cost per year was $8,800. The money in from membership fees and session cards was $4,400. This is a whopping $4,000 extra that is needed.
There are several fundraisers throughout the year that TVCK has been doing successful. e.g. Gumeracha Medieval Fair, Birdwood Farm Day, Mt Pleasant Farmers Market, and raffles. During the handover/mentor time we will ensure that all the fundraiser information is passed to along.
Discounts
For all the time and effort that our wonderful committee puts in we offer an incentive. All active committee members receive a 40% discount off session cards. This makes your $75 ten session card only $45.
